Born in Italy, Stella immigrated to New York City at the age of nineteen and went on to become one of America’s foremost modernist painters. Throughout his career, Stella moved between abstraction, realism, and surrealism, ultimately developing a truly unique style characterized by a high-key vibrant color palette and strong sense of design.
The Value
As the demand for Modernism continues, superb paintings like this by Stella will be more difficult to source and purchase. This is an excellent example of early American modernism by a well-known artist. The condition is excellent as is its provenance, making this painting a fine addition to any collection of Modernism.
